Last Sunday night I had the opportunity to share some thoughts on Sticky Faith with a group of church volunteers who serve kids across the age range from nursery to high school.
There were over a hundred folks in the room serving this particular church, and what I loved was seeing the age diversity represented in the volunteers themselves. There were senior adults all the way down to a handful of upper elementary kids, all being recognized and celebrated for their service this year. Since some of our findings relate to the power of intergenerational connections as well as older kids serving younger kids, it was exciting to affirm all the research-affirmed practices represented right there in the room.
I was also reminded that this is a great time of year to say thanks to those who are so faithful to serve in our ministries. Whether its an end-of-school dinner or a summer pool party, a trip to a coffee shop or a gift card to a favorite restaurant, how are you saying thanks to your volunteers? What ideas can you share with others about thanking the folks who make ministry possible? Wed love to hear them!
