Parental Influence Even Includes Driving

I drink water in the car all the time. A few weeks ago, my five year-old commented, “Mom, you’re not allowed to drink and drive.” She had heard the rule about drinking and driving and assumed it applied to all beverages, even non-alcoholic ones.
Our kids are always watching us - even while we are driving.
Last week I heard about this study conducted by Ford about the power of parental influence on kids’ driving behaviors. This paragraph was the most interesting to me:
“More than three quarters of tweens and 66 percent of teens say they are heavily influenced by their parents driving behavior; 80 percent see their parents engage in risky driving as they are looking to them as role models.”
I want parents to drive safely for many reasons, one of which is that their kids are watching. I also want parents to think about the influence we have on our kids all the time.
