How do I engage families who arent connected with my church?
In this Sticky Faith Families series we’ve been sharing all kinds of resources for parents and leaders to help support and engage parents.
Anytime we share about Sticky Faith with a group of youth workers, we inevitably get some version of this question: What about parents who aren’t involved or aren’t believers? How can we engage them?
We have two initial suggestions:
1. Any point of contact is a win.
Whether you’re able to get them on your email list, meet one-on-one (see this new guide from an experienced leader), or catch them in the parking lot as they’re picking up their kids, consider it a win and an opportunity to build a friendship.
2. Utilize engaged parents to reach out.
Your best advocates and best natural connection to an uninvolved parent is an involved one. Invite some of your enthusiastic parents to reach out in person or by phone or email to parents who are on the fringes. It may be enough to open up a new conversation.
