Great Short Term Missions Resources
A few weeks ago Brad and I had a chance to grab coffee with Dave Livermore from the Cultural Intelligence Center. We’re both big fans of Dave Livermore, especially the more we have partnered with him through our Deep Justice work.
At the center of Dave’s work is his pioneering understanding of CQ, or Cultural Intelligence. By CQ, Dave means “a person’s capability to function effectively in situations characterized by cultural diversity.”
Sounds like short-term missions to me…
As your spring or summer short-term mission trips are approaching, you might want to check out this CQ Assessment. At $10/person, you can use this short tool as a way to help every one of your students and leaders on your next short-term mission trip identify ways they can grow deeper in their cross-cultural understanding, skills vital to effective ministry (not to mention life overall) in this twenty-first century. You might even consider promoting this to parents as families are considering whether to send their kids on the trip.
As the world is flattening, every day you and I and the kids we care about are interacting with folks from different cultures. We’ll be able to love, care for, learn from, and serve them more effectively if we can build cross-cultural bridges with them.
