Gift Cards

Kara Powell | Apr 14, 2010

How many gift cards do you have in your wallet right now? I think I have four. Last week at the Ideation Conference I heard about www.giftcardgiver.com, an organization that takes unused gift cards and gives them to non-profits. Apparently about 15% of gift cards given are never used. Home Depot alone made $450 million last year from gift cards that were purchased and not used.

The founder of this organization came up with the idea after he and his wife were given a stack of gift cards at their wedding. It took them a while to use them and they often gave them away to others.

I love that this simple and great idea for justice came from the real life experience of a young guy and his fiancée.

Who knows what great ideas could come from the kids we know?
