Advice from a 12-Yr-Old

Thanks to FYI Advisory Council member April Diaz for reposting this TED talk by Adora Svitak: What adults can learn from kids. Take 8 minutes today to be spurred to remember how big kids can dream, think, and act when they are empowered. Another FYI friend, Steve Argue, sometimes says that our cultures attitude and approach toward kids is a justice issuewe marginalize, segregate, and (as our Fuller colleague Chap Clark reminds us all) abandon kids to their own underworld. Now I dont know whether this girl was pushed and pressured (other forms of abandonment) to become who she is at age 12. But just hearing her talk reminds me: we can expect and hope for much more from students in our ministries than we often do. So…what will you do with this 12-yr-olds advice today?
