As a teenager, my mom let me get Seventeen Magazine.  I’m somewhat surprised she did.   If she had read its contents, she probably wouldn’t have.

I remember I’d read the first half one night and the second half the next night. I wanted to spread it out; not read it all at once but rather savor it.

Seventeen Magazine is the highest selling magazine among teenagers and it’s now relaunching and incorporating a greater emphasis on social networking.  In the midst of print media wondering how to compete with online media, Seventeen is trying to do both.

I’m not sure how it will work for Seventeen, but I do appreciate how it is recognizing that times have changed and the more we can connect with folks online and through social media, the better.  Here’s a great FYI article to help you think about how you can integrate social media with what you’re doing this summer with kids – whether that be summer camp or a mission trip or anything else.

Feel free to share other ways you’ve been using social media to better love and serve kids and families…
