I’ve got a confession: when I was leading a youth ministry, I was never quite sure what to do about our monthly volunteer staff meetings. I wanted to offer training to our leaders, but I could never find the time to prepare very well. So I often ended up winging it.

That’s why we are so excited about the latest FYI book coming out in January called Essential Leadership. Based on suggestions from some of you, we have taken much of FYI’s best research and developed nine training lessons you can do with your volunteer teams. No more feeling guilty about the lack of training you’re offering your team. No more wondering where in the world you’ll find time to prepare for your next staff meeting.

While the book doesn’t come out until next month, you can preorder it now. In this E-Journal, we wanted to think with you about the essentials of leading a ministry—like the gospel, and students’ view of God, and qualities of highly effective teams.
