The Least I Can Do

Recently a friend of mine e.mailed me about justice:

“I’m trying to understand what Scripture calls us to in this area, and too often, I find myself acting like a school kid, wondering what’s the least I can do in this area, what’s the least I can sacrifice, what’s the least I can give and still feel like I’m living justice-y. What will make me feel better about keeping so much of what God has provided for myself?”

I’m guessing many of us feel like that; we wonder what justice looks like for us, and we swing between wanting to be super radical and wanting to be super comfortable.

It’s made all the more challenging by the fact that God doesn’t call us to the same justice paths.  I believe that God’s got a unique call on each of us, and for some of us, justice means moving to the inner city while for others, it means living radically in rural areas or the suburbs.

My dear colleague and friend, Chap Clark, once asked me:  What is the pace God has created you to walk in?  I wrote down that question and kept it in my organizer for months.  What I love about that question is that it reflects that God’s call (i.e., pace, or justice journey for that matter) is unique.

So what’s the justice journey God has called YOU to walk in?
