Not So Self-Focused

This morning I speak at a general session of the Willow Creek Shift Conference.  I’ll be sharing about Faith That Sticks, based largely out of our findings from our College Transition Project.

If you want to hear my talk, you can watch live this AM at 8:45 (6:45 PST for you West Coasters!), OR watch it later in the day.  This conference link gets you to both options and more.

Two of my biggest prayers are that God will work, and that I won’t be focused on myself.  People ask me if I get nervous before I speak, and I don’t normally.  But I do get self-focused, wondering what folks will think about me and if they will “like” me as a speaker.  And then it becomes more about me than about youth ministry, or even God for that matter.  I know the difference between speaking when I’m focused on the Lord and speaking when I’m focused on myself, and there is a big difference.
